About Richard Green Ecology
Richard Green Ecology Ltd was formed in 2010 by Richard Green BSc(Hons) CEnv MCIEEM. Prior to this Richard worked as a Principal Ecologist/Environmental Scientist for a large multi-functional consultancy (for 9 years) and at the Environment Agency as a Conservation Officer (for 9 years).
We have a wealth and breadth of ecological knowledge. Having worked on both sides of the industry, we have developed a keen understanding of business needs and statutory requirements. Our people skills and customer care ensure that the needs of both the environment and the client can be met, and we have a proven track record of delivering successful and sustainable outcomes.
All of our technical staff are members of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.

Meet The team
Richard Green
Director
Richard is a Chartered Environmentalist with over 26 years’ professional experience in nature conservation and ecological consultancy. Richard has directed ecological inputs to numerous development projects, including major infrastructure, ports, highways, housing, commercial, renewable energy, minerals, conservation and domestic projects. He has provided witness statements and presented ecological evidence at Public Inquiries.

- Habitat and species surveys (protected species licences held for bats (England and Wales), Bat Low Impact Class Licence/Bat Mitigation Class Licence for England and HS2, hazel dormouse, barn owl, great crested newt, crayfish, badger class licence (CL32 to interfere withe setts) and water vole displacement class licence (CL31)
William Dommett
Senior Ecologist
William has worked for Richard Green Ecology since graduating from his MSc in Environmental Consultancy in 2012. Project experience includes major and minor road schemes, residential developments, renewable energy, minerals, commercial and domestic schemes.

Tom Rickman
Senior Ecologist
Tom has worked for Richard Green Ecology since graduating from his MSc in Environmental Consultancy in 2014. He has worked on numerous projects, undertaking surveys, assessment and project management, including highways, rail, commercial, renewable energy, minerals and domestic projects.

Rory Chanter
Senior Ecologist
Rory has worked for Richard Green Ecology since 2015. Rory has a wide range of experience in the ecological sector, having worked for conservation organisations, wildlife charities and ecological consultancies. He has worked on numerous projects, undertaking surveys and assessment, including highways, rail, commercial, minerals and domestic projects.

Sarah Parry
Ecologist
Sarah joined Richard Green Ecology in 2020. She has a first-class honours degree in Animal Conservation and has previously worked in voluntary roles with the Woodland Trust, Blackdown Hills AONB, Riverfly Partnership and Life on the Verge Biosphere Project.

- Species surveys, including otter, dormice & reptiles
- Bat sound analysis
Sam Chapman
Ecologist
Sam joined Richard Green Ecology in 2019 as a Plymouth University MSc placement student and has been employed by us since then. He has since gained his MSc in Environmental Consultancy and continues to develop the skills and knowledge needed as an ecologist.

Kate Lea
Business Administrator
Kate has a degree in Applied Biology and joined Richard Green Ecology Ltd in 2020 from Archant South West Newspaper Group, where she was the Editorial Assistant. She has also worked for the Department of Trade and Industry, Derwent Publications Ltd and Tipton St John Primary School.
